Roccatre Art Gallery is proud to unveil "Esercizi di stile," a landmark group exhibition featuring some of the most influential figures in visual and mark-making exploration from the mid-20th century to today.
Inspired by the celebrated interplay of variation and formal discipline, the show delves into the boundless potential of the "mark"—viewed here not just as a graphic stroke, but as the fundamental pulse of artistic thought. As critic Roberto Galimberti observes, the exhibition creates a dynamic tension between diverse artistic languages: ranging from the stark clarity of geometry to the spontaneity of abstraction, and on to conceptual and spatial inquiries.
"Each piece on display reveals a mark in constant flux," writes Galimberti, "whether etched (De Alexandris) or merely glimpsed (Castagno), fluid or structured (Surbone), focusing on perspective (Paolini) or layered (Blank)." This diversity turns the exhibition into a deep dive into how artists mold material and space to forge their own unmistakable, singular style.
